Roger Lee Collins

Mr. Roger Lee Collins, 61, of 1269 McBride Road, Mount Airy, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011. He was born May 31, 1949, in Surry County, to the late Lester Odell and Phoebe Collins. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Pilot Floor Covering and a member of True Vine Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Marcia Ann Hensley Collins of the home; a daughter, Misty Collins of Mount Airy; a son, Kevin Collins of Mount Airy; two stepsons, Doug Collins and his wife, Christine Collins, of Dobson and Brent Collins of Pilot Mountain; five grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Dale Bowman of Siloam; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Connie Collins of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 3:00 PM at True Vine Baptist Church, with the Rev. Rawley "Dink" Haynes, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with full military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at True Vine Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the True Vine Baptist Church Mission Fund, 2231 North Andy Griffith Parkway, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
