Roger Leon Hill

Mr. Roger Leon Hill, 62, of Cana, VA, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Hill was born March 10, 1948, in Grayson County, VA, to Leon and Louise Snow Hill. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a retired truck driver. Mr. Hill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed by all his adoring family. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Fariss Hill of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Allen and Sherry Hill of Fredericksburg, VA, Jeffery Hill and his fiancée, Stephanie Pritchard, of Burnsville, and Shane Haynes of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and David Hamm of Ararat, VA, and Shannon Haynes and Doug Bonds of Cana, VA; a brother, Donald Hill of Fries; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Doug Lyons of Laurel Fork, VA; a sister-in-law, Pat Hill of Fries, VA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hill was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Hill; a brother, Marshall Hill; and a grandson, Mikle Dixon, Jr. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 24, 2010, at Worrell Memorial Cemetery, with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard-Grover King Post 1115. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
