Mr. Roger "Haney" Philllips

Mr. Roger “Haney” Phillips, age 71 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mount Airy, North Carolina. He was born in Montgomery County on October 23, 1949, to the late Mason Phillips and Ivah Mae Quesenberry Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wakley Freddie Phillips, and his father-in-law James Wesley Young. Roger was a good man, a jack of all trades and was full of life. He enjoyed today and never worried about tomorrow.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Young Phillips; one daughter, Christina Phillips Hess (Jim); two step-children, Melissa Goins Penn and Joseph Howard Goins; two grandchildren, Emaleigh Phillips Singletary (Daniel) and Johnnie Ian Gilley; one brother, Cleston Phillips; two nephews, Jimmy Wakley Phillips and Brian Cleston Phillips; a special great-nephew, Ethan Castevens; and mother-in-law, Nellie Ruth Young and several other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Ararat Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5830 Ararat Hwy, Ararat, VA. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is in charge of the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
