Mr. Roger Lee Webb, 77, of Mount Airy, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024. Mr. Webb was born October 3, 1946, in Surry County, the son of the late Norman Powell and Opal Edwards Webb. Roger grew up in Mount Airy and was an avid golfer, taking up the sport in his youth – first as a caddy. He later attended North Surry High School and won a state championship with the golf team as its captain. Roger served in the United States Army as an Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) diver during the Vietnam War. After returning home, he received a business degree from Forsyth Technical Community College. He worked briefly in finance and trucking, and then he spent 52 years as the founder of Utility Trailer Sales of Mount Airy, Inc., before turning it over to his son. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by an infant son, Roger Lee Webb, II; and a brother, Jimmy Webb. He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Vaughn Webb; a daughter, Kristine Webb; a son, Jonathan Webb and his fiancée, Sara Bartlett; three grandchildren, Phoenix Martens (23), Hudson Martens (21), and Indiana Martens (17); a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Anne Webb; and a sister and brother-in-law, Patt and John Butera. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Rocky Ford Christian Church Cemetery, with Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating. At the conclusion of the service, military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. No formal visitation will be held.
