Mr. Roland Hoover "Bill" Draughn, 78, of 2408 Old Highway 601, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2006, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Draughn was born September 18, 1928, in Surry County, to the late Charlie and Lillian Kidd Draughn. He was retired from Renfro Corporation and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Reeves Draughn of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Theresa Badgett of Statesville and Carolyn and Mike Willey of Dobson; four grandchildren and spouses, Tracy and Jeff Peeples, Ruth Ann Badgett, Dale and Betty Bunn, and Joe Willey; two stepgrandchildren and spouses, Amy and Trent James and Melissa and Jeff Holt; a great grandson, Daniel Bunn; four great stepgrandchildren, Nathan Gunter, E.C. James, Katilyn Brewer, and Haley Holt; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathryne "Cat" and Grover "Pete" Jenkins of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Anne Draughn of Mount Airy; a special niece, Yolanda Howard; a special nephew, Mike Bolen; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Draughn was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Draughn. A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Kermit Gray and the Rev. Robert McCrary. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 to 1:30 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Paul Danley, 101 Apollo Court, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
