Romey Weldon "Bud" Hunter, Jr.

Mr. Romey Weldon (Bud) Hunter, Jr. age 77 of Mt. Airy, NC passed away Friday morning, September 1, 2023 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. He was born December 1, 1945 in Surry County to the late Romey Weldon Hunter and Ina Sue Willard Hunter. He was retired from Altec. He attended Bannertown Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Mt. Airy Country Club. Surviving are a daughter, Kristel Hurst and a son, Dwayne Hunter, grandchildren, Jasmine Chase Varney, Bryson Reid Varney and Mason Hunter Varney, sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy and Andy Anderson and Linda Hunter, a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Hunter. along with several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Bannertown Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Mickey Cogdill. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at 12:30 PM Tuesday until time for service at the church.
