Mr. Romulus Roscoe Folger, Sr. (Rom), 93, passed away January 18, 2019, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Folger was born eighth of thirteen children, on May 30, 1925, to Benjamin Franklin and Mabel Llewelyn Folger. He spent his lifetime in Dobson and truly loved his little town. Mr. Folger graduated from Dobson High School and served our country in the 1st Division United States Marine Corps during WWII. He retired from NCDOT as a chief land surveyor and has been a lifelong member of Dobson United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Folger was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Vernon Folger, his sisters, Kathryn, Betsy, Eunice and Mabel, and his brothers, Franklin, Jim, Bob, Worth, Billy Sam, and Phil. He is survived by his daughter, Nan (Paul) Jackson of Dobson, sons, Ros (Cathy) Folger and Llew (Lois) Folger, both of State Road, granddaughter Kathryn (Scott) Hall of State Road, grandsons Rush (Amber) Folger of Jonesville and Frank Jackson of Dobson, great-granddaughter Farrah Folger of Jonesville, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Folger loved to discuss sports and politics, trade old cars, and watch his Tennessee Walking horses in the show ring. The family will hold a private graveside service at the Dobson Town Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to Dobson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 497, Dobson, NC 27017 or to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, NC 27017. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Folger family.
