Ronald Wayne Barker

Mr. Ronald Wayne Barker, age 75, of Stuart, Virginia passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, at his home.  He was born in Rocky Mount, Virginia on May 12, 1948, to the late Gilbert Fleming Barker, Jr., and Hazel Irene Hall Barker.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Barker was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Barker, and a sister, Vickie Cannaday.  He was a Vietnam veteran ('65-'71), an OTR truck driver, and an inspector of recliners. He was a highly intelligent individual, with no shame informing you that you were wrong. He was a sports enthusiast, lover of old westerns and drinker of black coffee. He often said, "Adding cream and sugar will always ruin a good cup of coffee." As he began to understand the value of love, he began to understand friends, family, and God. 

          Mr. Barker is survived by his children, David Hubbard of Bassett, Virginia, Joseph Barker of Martinsville, Virginia, and Amanda Barker of Bassett, Virginia; a granddaughter, Javeyah Florence; a sister, Donna Hubbard of Martinsville, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

All services for Mr. Barker will be private.  If desired, memorial donations in memory of Mr. Ronald Barker may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America.  Time to rest wounded soldier... time to rest.
