Mr. Ronald Louis Culler, 61, of 294 Marigold Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Culler was born June 23, 1945, in Surry County, to the late Frank Scales and Virginia Evelyn Slate Culler. He served our country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War. Ronald was a self-employed tobacco farmer and a member of Flippin Memorial Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betty Anderson Culler of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and James Johnson of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Louis and Stacey Culler of Mount Airy; four grandchildren, Adam Culler, Anna Culler, Jasmine Johnson, and Leia Johnson, all of Mount Airy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Janet Culler of Thomasville and Roger and Glenda Culler of Mount Airy; and a special friend and cousin, Joe Bill Slate of Mount Airy. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 3, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Flippin Memorial Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Tim Burton and the Rev. Darren Slate. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mount Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes before the funeral service.
