Ronald Dale Dickens

Mr. Ronald Dale Dickens, 61, of Lowgap, passed away Friday morning, September 24, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson after an extended illness. Mr. Dickens was born December 11, 1948, in Surry County, son of Doris Johnson Dickens and the late Boyd Sabi Dickens. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a longtime employee of Duke Energy. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Rosalie Hiatt Dickens of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Aleisha Marie and Billy Jay Cave of Lowgap; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian Dale and Tiffany McMillian Dickens of Flat Rock; two granddaughters, Alayna Marie Cave of Lowgap and Kaitlyn Alexis Dickens of Flat Rock; two grandsons, William Ronald Cave of Lowgap and William Alijah Wood of Flat Rock; his mother, Doris Johnson Dickens of Lowgap; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Virgil Bartley of Lowgap; a niece, Julie Edwards; a nephew, Justin Bartley; and a grand niece, Madalyn Grace Edwards. In addition to his father, Mr. Dickens was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Marie Dickens. The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 26, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Joe Atkins and the Rev. Brian Shupe officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
