Ronald Clay Mills

Mr. Ronald Clay Mills, 63, of Knightdale, went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 5, 2022.  He was born October 7, 1959, in Forsyth County, to the late Clay Vernon and Gail Leona Wilson Mills.  He was a member of the wrestling team at East Surry High School in Pilot Mountain and graduated from East Surry in 1977.  Following high school, Ron attended North Carolina State University.  He was a successful self-employed consultant (RCMills Consulting LLC), working with the pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial fields, as well as medical and university institutions.  Ron loved the Lord and sharing God’s Word.  He was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and served on many church committees to include the Planning Committee for Christian Life Center and the Safety Committee.  Ron truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it be attending football games, drag races, BBQ competitions, little league soccer games, and piano recitals, camping in the woods, or just hanging out on the deck.  He also enjoyed being part of his neighborhood.  Never knowing a stranger, Ron would talk with anyone and everyone.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale.  The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Indian Grove Family Cemetery, 488 Indian Grove Church Road, Mount Airy.  He is survived by his wife, Melissa Roope Mills; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianna and David Prince and Lisa and Brian Shelton; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny Lee and Marcy Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s name to Bethlehem Baptist Church, 8400 Poole Road, Knightdale, NC  27545; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105.
