Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Wayne Heath, 74, of Mt. Airy passed away peacefully Thursday, May 31, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in McDowell County, WV on March 9, 1944 to the late, Thomas Guy and Crystal Taylor Heath.  Mr. Heath was a self-employed Car Dealer.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army where he received, a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 2 O/S Bars, Combat Infantryman Badge, Marksman Badge Rifle M16, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Purple Heart.  He is survived by his wife, Elaine Pedigo Heath; a daughter and son-in-law, Tiffany and Jeremy Bledsoe; a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Flannery Heath; grandchildren, Corey Hilton, Sydney Heath, Kaelyn Heath, Bailey Bledsoe, and Taylor Heath; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra and Gene Gwynn, Patricia and Elisha Martin, Geraldine Nunn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Gay Heath, Arlene Heath; many nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Dean Hall; very special friend, Roger Payne; a multitude of friends in Mt. Airy and the surrounding area.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Heath was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou McKenzie; brothers, Jim, Marvin, and Don Heath.  Funeral services will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Cockerham officiating.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.  The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.  Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.  The family would like to give a very special thank you to Flannery Heath and Mountain Valley Hospice for the exceptional care given to Ronnie during his illness.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
