Our beloved daddy, Ronnie Gid Allen, passed away peacefully at his home on April 9, 2019. He was born June 19, 1949, in Surry County. He was a retired Army veteran and awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received while serving our country in Vietnam. He served his country bravely in battle. He was a devoted husband, father, and papa. He was loved dearly by all those fortunate to have known him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Latney Gid Allen and Opal Elizabeth Allen; his devoted wife and love of his life, Brenda Gail Poteat Allen; brothers, Roger and Gary Allen; sisters, Betty Joe Pruitt and Patricia "Trick" Childress; and a special nephew, Randall Allen. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanie and Marty Prevette and Karen and Johnny Bryant; a special grandson, Mason Gage Prevette, “papa’s little buddy and old pal”; a special granddaughter, Isabella Raine Prevette, her papa was her aka “cutie and little soldier; brother, Randy Allen and his wife, Melody; sisters, Vickie Allen and partner Jennifer Hiatt, Elaine Hardy and Brenda Smith and her husband, Terry; sister-in-law, Shirley Allen; several nieces and nephews. Jeanie would like to thank Karen for the love and special care she devoted to their father. Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, 2019, at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson beginning at 1:00 pm. The service will be at 2:00 pm in the chapel, officiated by Evangelist, Miles Bryant. Burial to follow at Indian Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to cover final expenses.
