Roosevelt Garner Montgomery

Mr. Roosevelt “Bill” Garner Montgomery, 83, of Ararat, VA passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mr. Montgomery was born in Patrick County on November 1, 1936 to the late Hie and Sally Barnard Montgomery.  He was a retired mechanic, cook, and painter.  Mr. Montgomery proudly served our country in the United States Air Force.  He is survived by his girlfriend, Patricia Beasley; daughters and son-in-law, Melinda Dawn Montgomery Kennedy and Allen, and Connie Montgomery; nine grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruby Mankins, Dorothy Noah, Maxine and Haywood King; brothers and sister-in-law, Ace Montgomery, Franklin Montgomery, Bernard and Love Montgomery; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Roosevelt was preceded in death by brothers, Folger, Floyd, and Winford Montgomery.  A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nelson Parker officiating.  Burial will follow in the Barnard Family Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
