Rosa Lee Holmes

Mrs. Rosa Lee Tate Holmes, 84, of Mount Airy, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday evening, January 26, 2021.  Mrs. Holmes was born November 10, 1936, in Carroll County, VA, one of three children born to the late John E. and India Rigney Tate of Cana, VA.  She was a sweet, loving, and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter.  Her kind, gentle spirit not only touched her family and friends, but also her patients that she cared for throughout her career as a registered nurse.  Left behind to cherish her memories are her husband of 64 years, Herschel Johnson Holmes of the home; her children and their spouses, Tim and Debbie Holmes of Yadkinville, Lewis and Lynn Holmes of Pilot Mountain, and Sherry and Joey Bullis of Mount Airy; two grandsons, Landon Holmes of Mount Airy and Adam Lewis of Dobson; a niece, Debbie Linville (Billy); three nephews, Tommy Hiatt, Mike Tate (Jan), and Terry Tate (Karen); and many cousins, including Betty Robertson, whom she dearly loved.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Hazel Tate Moser; and a brother, Carlis “Pete” Tate.  A private graveside service will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens for her immediate family.  Then a memorial service will be held at a later date for her friends and extended family.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  The family finds comfort in scripture from 2 Corinthians 5:8, “…to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
