Roy Lee Burchette

Mr. Roy Lee Burchette, 62, of White Plains, passed away Sunday morning, September 26, 2010, at his home. Mr. Burchette was born January 14, 1948, in Ashe County, son of the late Garsie Garfield and Inis Brooks Burchette. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Eleanor Gibson Burchette of the home; a daughter, Angie Burchette Teaster of Lansing; two grandchildren, Austin and Alexis, both of Lansing; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ruby and Jerry Calhoun and Rita Hill, all of West Jefferson, Rosemary and Charles Brown of Fleetwood, and Renee and Ken Mills of Johnson City, TN; several nieces and nephews; and a special companion, Bandit. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burchette was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Burchette; and a brother, Roger Burchette. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Tim Roten and Brother Todd Tucker officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Surry Animal Rescue, 112 Quail Run Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Nelson Gardner and his staff for the care and kindness shown to Roy during his illness.
