Mr. Roy Edgar Chamberlain, 77, of 730 Blue Hollow Road, Mount Airy, passed away Friday, August 31, 2007, at his home. Mr. Chamberlain was born October 7, 1929, in Surry County, to the late Silas W. and Bertha Jane Jenkins Chamberlain. Roy worked in the construction business for many years and later owned and operated Granite City Florist. Mr. Chamberlain was a faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Dennis Payne of Dobson and Lisa and Eddie Moore of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Diane Chamberlain of Mount Airy; eight grandchildren and spouses, Chris and Rana Chamberlain, Brandy and Brad Jones, Heath Moore, Nicholas Moore, and Garrett Chamberlain, all of Mount Airy, Benji and Kelly Payne and Josh Payne, all of Dobson, and Micah Chamberlain of Wilmington; two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Payne and Miles Payne, both of Dobson; a sister and brother-in-law, Opal and Clinton Hall of Mount Airy; two sisters-in-law, Marie Chamberlain and Mae Chamblin, both of Mount Airy; and several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chamberlain was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Harold Chamberlain; a son, Roy Steven Chamberlain; and two brothers, the Rev. Jesse Chamberlain and James Chamblin. The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 2, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Noel Hawks and the Rev. Leon Mickles, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
