Mr. Roy Dale Collins, 68, of Mount Airy, passed away Thursday morning, December 6, 2012, at his home. He was born October 30, 1944, in Surry County, to the late Jesse Willard Collins and Lillie Gray Boyd Collins Jones. Roy served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the VA Hospital in Tampa, FL, after many years of service. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jesse Roy Dale and Nevada Collins of Fort Detrick, MD, and Christopher Chad Collins of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren, Kayla Hawks and Hailey Nicole Collins, both of Mount Airy, Shane Edwards of Fort Sill, OK, Jesse Roy Dale Collins, II and Isabella Collins, both of Fort Detrick, MD, and Skyler Daniels of Robbinsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ronald Beamer of Mount Airy; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Duke Collins, Roger and Jane Collins, and David and Rhonda Collins, all of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Jane Williams Collins. A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 9, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. Inurnment will take place at Skyline Memory Gardens at a later date. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from noon until 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Don and Verona Wright, Tracy Collins, Wendy, Tabitha, and all the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and care given to Mr. Collins during his illness.
