Roy Benton Foley

Mr. Roy Benton Foley, age 89, Fairystone Park Highway, Stuart, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2006. He was born on August 9, 1917 in Patrick County, the son of the late Richard and Lou Hundley Foley of Stuart. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foley was preceded in death by three sisters, Dovie Foley, Rosa Brewer and Mary Ethel Rakes; and three brothers, Arthur Foley, Edgar Foley and Clyde Foley. Mr. Foley served in the United States Army during World War II. A retired sawmiller, farmer and beekeeper, he had been employed by E.A. Wright and Sons. He was a member of Ross Harbour United Methodist Church were he served in several capacities, including Chairman of the Offical Board, a Trustee, and as Treasurer of the Church Cemetery Fund. Mr. Foley is survived by his wife, Mary Agnes Ross Foley of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul B. and Peggy Foley of Stuart, a daughter and son-in-law, Mike and Sue Kodenski of Bassett; a granddaughter, Laura and husband, Mark Jones of Bassett; a great-granddaughter, Ainsley Jones of Bassett; two sisters, Pearl Edwards of Bassett and Josie McCuiston of Burlington, North Carolina; two step-granddaughters; Portland Shelton and Debby Jones; three step-great-granddaughters, Sarah and Taylor Shelton, and Amber Fazzano; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Foley will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Jack Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in Ross Harbour United Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
