Roy Lorran Lawrence

Mr. Roy Lorran Lawrence, 81, of 1901-I Windsor Hill Drive, Matthews, formerly of Long Street, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Indian Trail. Mr. Lawrence was born November 27, 1925, in Surry County, to the late John and Mallie Carrico Lawrence. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. Roy was a retired supervisor from Sprint, formerly Centel Telephone Company, and a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Indian Trail. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Lawrence Martin of Indian Trail; a son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Terri Lawrence of Wilmington; five grandchildren and spouses, Cynthia and Mike Summers, Stephanie and Jonathon Eldridge, and Sunnie Ragan, all of Indian Trail, Michael Lawrence of Charlotte, and Lauren Lawrence of Wilmington; and five great grandchildren, Alexa Summers, Savannah Summers, Madison Summers, Breeanna Eldridge, and Carson Eldridge. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Jerene "Jerry" Reeves Lawrence; a son, Danny Lawrence; and a grandson, Jeffrey Lawrence. Most importantly, he was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be sorely missed by his family. The family will receive friends Friday, March 30, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Franklin Heights United Methodist Church in Mount Airy, conducted by the Rev. Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron and the Rev. Bruce Johnson. A memorial service will also be held Saturday, April 7, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Lynn Upchurch. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, 416 South Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030, or to Faith United Methodist Church, 3708 Faith Church Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079.
