Roy Nelson McKinney

Mr. Roy Nelson McKinney, age 74 of Mount Airy, passed at his home on Tuesday morning September 12, 2023, with his loving wife by his side.  He was born in Guilford County on June 25, 1949 to the late Nelson McKinney and Mary Love McKinney (Sharpe).  Mr. McKinney retired from Ryder Company as a diesel mechanic.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Malinda McKinney; daughter, Crystal Redden (Bradley); grandchildren, Brandon, Tanner, Katelyn, Hailey, and Lexie; sisters, Janie Boyles, Nancy Davy, and Jerrelene Hulse; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy McKinney (Cheryl), Lonnie McKinney (Vickie), Carolyn McKinney; special pet, Thumper.  In addition to his parents Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Scott, and a brother, Steven McKinney.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Brims Grove Baptist Church with service conducted by Michael Boyles .  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
