Roy Wilbur Poindexter

Mr. Roy Wilbur Poindexter, age 73, of Siloam, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018. He was born May 10, 1945, in Surry County to the late Ida Bell Whitaker Poindexter and Roy Esker Poindexter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Key. Mr. Poindexter was retired from Westinghouse, a veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam era, a self-taught guitarist and played the guitar in Church, and enjoyed getting together with friends and family. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 44 years, Lou Ray Poindexter; daughters Kristie Brame and Sherrie Cox; grandchildren Sarah Flowers, Gavin Brame and Cole Brame.  Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 6-8 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Monday in the Moody-Davis Chapel with Reverend Jeff Adkins and Reverend Bud Wishon officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436.
