Roy "RL" Lawernce Dowell

Mr. Roy Lawrence “R.L.” Dowell, age 82, of Cana, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at the Woltz Hospice Home.  Mr. Dowell was born in Carroll County on February 4, 1936, to John Nathan and Lala Towe Dowell.  He was retired from YRC after many years of service.  Surviving is his devoted wife, Evelyn Brannock Dowell; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Jane Dowell; daughters and a son-in-law, Sue and Jerry Orange, and Cheryl Bober; a step daughter, Michelle Allen and husband Jeff; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one step grandchild; two step great grandchildren; sisters and a brother-in-law, Marlene and Robert Clifton, and Arlene Surratt; and a brother, Sam Dowell.  In addition to his parents Mr. Dowell was preceded in death by brothers, Nathan Dowell, Bobby Dowell, Frank Dowell and Clinton Dowell; and by a sister, Jenny Brown.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Jimmy McCraw.  Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday one hour prior to the service.  The family respectfully requests no visits to the home.
