Mr. Roy Leon Shelton, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Shelton was born October 12, 1930, in Surry County, the son of the late Ramey and Clennie Rakes Shelton. He retired from Ballston Oakdale Knitting of Mount Airy. Surviving are two sons, Allan Shelton and Randy Shelton; a granddaughter, Katlyn S. Snow; two great-granddaughters, Skylar Snow and Emma Snow; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Parabelle Hiatt, Jean and Harvey Arrington, Betty and Mickey Hall, and Dorothy and Don Baynes; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Wade Shelton, Paul Shelton, Don and Bonnie Shelton, Loretta Mabe, Brenda Joyce, Mac Shelton, and Donna Shelton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hawks Shelton; three sisters, Annie Belton, Frances Shelton, and Ruth Mills; and three brothers, Russell Shelton, Charles Shelton, Buddy Shelton. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Mike Hiatt officiating. Interment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Due to public health concerns, attendees are requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
