Royce Wayne Nester

Mr. Royce Wayne Nester, age 92, of Westfield, passed away at Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 11, 1932, in Surry County, Wayne was the son of the late Dexter Marion and Ima Kirkman Nester. A devoted family man, he instilled a strong work ethic in his children and grandchildren. He was also a faithful Christian and a longtime member of Westfield Baptist Church. Known throughout the Westfield community as the "Mayor of Westfield," he was a cherished presence to all who knew him. When he wasn’t cutting wood, riding the tractor, or working on the old family farm, Wayne could often be found sitting on the front porch alongside his loving wife—a simple joy he truly treasured. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Wayne is survived by his wife of 74 years, Jackie Sue Frans Nester; his daughters and son-in-law, Paige Lynch, and Susan and Donnie Inman; four grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew and Sarah Inman, Daniel and Jenna Inman, Lauren and David Boyles, and Shawn Lynch; great-grandchildren, Easton and Charlotte Inman, Easton and Brooks Senter, Kinley and Brooks Boyles, and Sadie Lynch; a brother, Edward Nester; and a special niece, Donna Wood.  He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Westfield Baptist Church, with Dale Riddle and Reverend Blake Bowman officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 PM until the time of the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to his beloved wife, Jackie Sue Nester, as she navigates this difficult time.
