Ruby Julia Staley Barker

Mrs. Ruby Julia Staley Barker, 79, of 4844 Old Highway 16, Lansing, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at the home of her son. Mrs. Barker was born April 28, 1927, in Ashe County, daughter of the late Ed and Sallie Blevins Staley. She was retired from Sprague Electric and a member of Bristol Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Melvin Rodgers of Mount Airy; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Brenda Barker of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Justin Rodgers of Fort Myers, FL, Kelly Barker of Jefferson, and Jodie Lemly and husband, Wilson, of Fleetwood; a great granddaughter, Zoey Ruth Lemly of Fleetwood; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Frank Walker of Jefferson; a brother and sister-in-law, William "Bill" and Faye Staley of Millers Creek; and a special nephew, Ronnie Walker of Jefferson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her husband, Lennie Barker; and a brother, Samuel Staley. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 2, 2007, at 11:00 AM at Bristol Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Billy Joe Blevins and the Rev. Bennie Roten. Burial will follow in the Scott-Blevins Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bristol Baptist Church.
