Ruby Alice Creed

Mrs. Ruby Alice Slate Creed, 94, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at Ridgecrest Retirement Community in Mt. Airy.  She was born in Surry on February 7, 1928, to the late Lueyco and Pearl Mae Everhart Slate.  Mrs. Creed was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ricky Easter; grandchildren, Stewart and Angela Easter, Corey Easter; great grandchildren, Cole and Kaylan Easter, and Courtney Easter; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Creed was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Ernest Creed; a son, Terry Creed; a sister, Betty Atkins; brothers, Bobby Alvin Slate, Howard Eugene Slate, Billy Gray Slate, and Herbert Slate.  A funeral service will be held Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Easter, the Rev. Ernest Brown, and the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Creed Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
