Mrs. Ruby Furn Hawks Davis, 66, of 143 South Oak Street, Lowgap, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Universal Health Care in King. Mrs. Davis was born June 4, 1943, in Carroll County, VA, daughter of Ethel Combs Hawks Cave and the late William Yancy Hawks. Ruby was a homemaker and a member of Charity Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Snow of Davidson; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Pam Davis of Siloam; three grandchildren, Josh Snow of Wilmington, Jessica Snow of Winston-Salem, and Brandon Davis of Mount Airy; a stepgrandchild and spouse, Tanya and Greg Smith of Siloam; two great-grandchildren, Bella Davis and Chris Davis, both of Mount Airy; two great-stepgrandchildren, Aiden Smith and Kyndal Smith, both of Siloam; her mother and stepfather, Ethel and Clinton Cave of Lowgap; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Orene Hawks, Opal and Jesse Edwards, and Faye and Bill Spencer, all of Lowgap; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Wavern Hawks of Lowgap and Michael and Frances Hawks of Yadkinville. In addition to her father, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, James Garnett Davis. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at 2:00 PM at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Arwood Edwards and Elder V.J. Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Charity Baptist Church, 121 North Wilson Road, Lowgap, NC 27024.
