Ruby Mae Forrest Gammons

Mrs. Ruby Mae Forrest Gammons, age 82, of Zoy Gammons of Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2007 in Fairview. Mrs. Gammons was born in Surry County, August 12, 1924 to John and Bessie Inman Forrest. She was retired from the Derby Restaurant and was a member of Albion Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Zoy Gammons of the home; a daughter, Tincy Parries of Fletcher; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Melba Gammons of Mt. Airy; Bobby and Linda Gammons of Gilbert, SC; grandchildren, Linda O'Kelley, Ricky Parries, Tammy Camby, Kevin Parries, Denise Mabe, Eddie Gammons, Dennis Gammons, Shannon Gammons, and Travis Gammons; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Forrest of Eden; half sisters, Barbara Hicks of Mt. Airy; Lona Reynolds and husband Herbert of Winston-Salem; half brothers, Bill Forrest of Winston-Salem; Mac Forrest and Junior Forrest both of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gammons was preceded in death by a daughter, Allie Southern; sisters, Ethel Marion, Nina Haymore; brothers, Joe, Will and Frank Forrest; half sister, Mary Hicks, ; half brothers, Bill, Aldie, and Buster Forrest. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Albion Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Odell Sisk and Rev. Keith Love. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7:00 to 9:00 at Moody Funeral Home. Mrs. Gammons will lie in state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service.
