Ruby Westmoreland Harris

Mrs. Ruby McCormick Harris, 80, loving wife of Mr. Robert "Cobb" Harris, of Dobson passed away peacefully on Friday October 16, 2009 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born in Surry county on December 28, 1928 to the late June and Lutisha Brady Westmoreland. Mrs. Harris was retired from Northern Hospital of Surry and attended Dobson First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband "Cobb" Harris of the home; a daughter and son-in-law Mildred and Michael Sneed of Elkin; three sons and a daughter-in-law Clayton McCormick of Lambsburg, VA, Claude and Bessie McCormick and Clinton McCormick and friend Annie all of Dobson; twenty grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; a sister Mavie Thomas of Mt. Airy; a brother Carl Westmoreland of Badin Lake. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by two sons, Carlie and Clinard McCormick. Her funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday October 18, 2009 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home by Rev. Bill Jenkins. Burial will follow in Dobson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 7 to 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials contributions be made to the Ruby Harris Funeral Fund c/o Moody-Davis Funeral Home, P.O. Box 295 Dobson, NC 27017.
