Ruby Alice Lane Hicks

Mrs. Ruby Alice Lane Hicks, 75, of 172 Hicks Farm Trail, Pinnacle, passed away Monday, April 2, 2007, at Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy. Mrs. Hicks, a precious lady, was born July 8, 1931, in Surry County, to the late Romie Vestal and Della Hutchens Lane. She was retired from Amos and Smith Hosiery in Pilot Mountain and a member of Shoals Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Shane Spencer of Pinnacle; two sons, Jimmy Lee Hicks of Springfield, OH, and Dennis Ray Hicks of Greensboro; and two special grandchildren, Jessica Lee Spencer and Alec Dale Spencer, both of Pinnacle. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lee Hicks; a daughter, Vivian Elaine White; a grandson, Chad Hicks; two sisters, Evvie Vaughn and Josephine Roberts; and a brother, Odell Lane. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at 2:00 PM at Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Todd E. Byrd. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love, care, and understanding given to Ruby and her family during the last several months. These acts of kindness are truly beyond measure.
