Mrs. Ruby Ethelene Hall Martin, 87, of 112 Englewood Trail, Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Martin was born March 24, 1923, in Surry County, to the late John Franklin and Emma Lou Inman Hall. She retired from Balston Hosiery and was a member of Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are her husband, Glen Wise Martin of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and the Rev. Buford Jessup of Mount Airy and Ruth and Willie Allen of King; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Gaye Martin and Wayne and Ann Martin, all of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Martin; three sisters, Viola East, Mozelle Taylor, and Maggie Hiatt; and a brother, Herbert Hall. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 2, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Tommy Smith, the Rev. Buford Jessup, Dr. Tracy Jessup, the Rev. Neil Pressley, and Chaplain Trent Jessup, U.S. Navy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, where her body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the funeral servic. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
