Ruby Jane Newman

Mrs. Ruby Newman, age 94, of Mt. Airy passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Pruitt Health in Elkin.  She was born in Surry County on July 7, 1926 to the late Pinky and Lizzie Simpson Edmonds.  Mrs. Newman was retired from Renfro Cooperation, and was the oldest living member of Union Hill Friends Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her.  Mrs. Newman is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Freida and Donald Maines; grandchildren, David Dowell and special friend Laurie Beeson, Donald Maines Jr. and wife Chelsea, Shelly Love and husband Michael; great- grandchildren, Austin Love, Aiden Love, Harper Maines, Donavan Maines; sister, Mary Harvey.  In addition to her parents Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy White and Marie Turner; brothers, Rex and Victor Edmonds.  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Union Hill Friends Church Cemetery with service conducted by Rev.
