Ruby Louise Jarrell O'Dell

Mrs. Ruby Louise Jarrell O'Dell age 91 of Surry Community Nursing Center in Mt. Airy and formally of Toast the widow of Mr. Cullen O'Dell passed away Saturday December 9, 2006 at the Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mt. Airy. Mrs. O'Dell was born July 30, 1915 in Surry County to the late H. G. and Laura Columbia Oakley Jarrell, she was owner and operator of O'Dell's Grocery Store, part owner of the Fabric Store and part owner in O'Dell's Sandwich Shop. Mrs. O'Dell was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are five grandchildren and spouses Diane and Mike Waters of Greenville, NC., Donna and Wesley Martin and Dave and Rhonda O'Dell all of Mt. Airy, Doug and Amelia O'Dell of Lowgap and Jay O'Dell of Cana, VA., nine great grandchildren, one sister and brother-in-law Nannie and Charlie Hull of Mt. Airy, a sister-in-law Ruby O'Dell Inman of Mt. Airy, a daughter-in-law and husband Mary Helen O'Dell Smith and husband Jack of Mt. Airy, a special niece Gail Hull Hiatt of Mt. Airy, other nieces and nephews Helen Watson, Wilbur Hawks and Brad Hull all of Mt. Airy. In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. O'Dell was preceded in death by two sons Davis Jarrell "D. J." O'Dell and Zane O'Dell. Graveside services will be held Monday December 11, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at Skyline Memory Gardens with services conducted by Rev. Joe Atkins. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Moody Funeral Services will be assisting the O'Dell Family. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Surry Community Nursing Center Activity Department, 542 Allred Mill Rd. Mt. Airy, NC; 27030. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Surry Community Nursing Center for there help and support during Ruby's stay at the nursing home and a special thank you to Casey Lovill for all of her love and care of Ruby.
