Mrs. Ruby Louise Horton Parker, 82, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Parker was born November 24, 1927, in Surry County, to the late Thomas and Nellie Norman Horton. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Surviving are a daughter, Dianne Culler of Mount Airy; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Brenda Parker and Larry and Glenda Parker, all of Mount Airy; grandchildren and their spouses, David and Emmanuelle Culler, Brandy Culler, Casey and Tonya Culler, James "Dink" Parker, Jason Parker, Joseph Parker, Jacob and Jennifer Parker, Mike and Terra Parker, and Kristie and Jeff Hebler; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Carrie McMillian of Mount Airy; and a brother and three sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Mona Faye Horton, Mildred Horton, and Faye Horton, all of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Harding Parker; a great-granddaughter, Savanna Parker; a sister, Mahaley Utt; and two brothers, Richard Horton and Bill Horton. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
