Mr. Rudolph Leonard George, 88, of 330 Radar Road, Ararat, passed away Sunday night, October 24, 2010, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. George was born June 1, 1922, in Surry County, to the late Andy Lee and Margaret Christine George. He was a retired saw miller and a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in World War II. Surviving are two brothers, Otis Andy George and Chester Lee George, both of Mount Airy; a half-sister and her husband, Rita and Lonnie Atkins of Mount Airy; a half-brother, Garnett Wade Venable; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. George was preceded in death by a sister, Minnie Rachel Venable; and three brothers, Arvil George, Aldie George, and Elmer George. The family will be receiving friends Thursday, October 28, 2010, beginning at 1:00 PM at the home of a brother, Otis Andy George, 168 Bancroft Lane, Mount Airy. There will not be a formal service for Mr. George. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is assisting the George family.
