Mr. Rufus Lee Angell, age 88 of State Road, passed away on Monday September 17, 2007 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. He was born in Davie County on January 11, 1919 to the late James Henry Angell and the late Mary McClamrock Angell. Mr. Angell was a member of Rocky Ford Baptist Church and was retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Factory. Surviving are his wife Stella Brown Angell of the home; three daughters and son-in-law Lisa Angell of the home; Diane and Kenneth Miller of Independence Va. and Tammy Novak of Sparta, NC; two sons and daughters-in-law James and Ellen Angell of Mtn. Park, NC and Stephen and Melissa Chipman of Roaring River, NC; three grandchildren Allison Angell, Sheena Miller and Tasha Novak; one brother William Angell of Mocksville, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters Geneva McCulloh, Adalade Whitaker and Helen Angell; by one brother John Henry Angell.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday September 20, 2007 at Rocky Ford Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Mtn. Park Cemetery with full with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Honor Guard Mount Airy Post 2019 and Pilot Mountain Post 9436. Rev. Claude Lloyd and Rev. Jerry Adams will be officiating the service. His Body will remain at Moody-Davis Funeral Home until carried to the church to lie in state 30 min. before the service. The Family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 PM. Moody-Davis Funeral Svcs. Inc. in Dobson is serving the Angell Family.
