Rupert Delanne Bryant, Sr.

Mr. Rupert Delanne Bryant, Sr. 71, of Lambsburg, VA, passed away peacefully Friday, January 15, 2021 at Galax Health and Rehab, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Carroll County, July 17, 1949, to the late Lester Corbit Bryant, Sr. and Iris Velna Spencer Bryant.  Rupert bravely served in the U.S. Army.  He retired from Scenic Motors, and was a member of Fellowship Tabernacle, where he served for years as deacon, Sunday school teacher and song leader.  He also attended Mt. Airy First Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Rupert loved his Lord.  He loved the simple things in life.  He loved music, and sang at many funerals and weddings, and wrote many songs.  He sang even after his memory of all else had gone.  He is singing in heaven now with those that have gone before, as they wait for others still to come.  Leaving behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Jeanette Daniels Bryant; his precious children, Dea Hammesfahr and fiancé Jason Castle of Boonville, NC, Rupert Delanne (Lane) Bryant, Jr. and wife Angela of Lambsburg, VA.  His memory will live on in his adored grandchildren, Courtney Wasson of Monterey Park, CA, Amber Wasson of Lambsburg, VA, Sandra Hammesfahr, and Gabriel Hammesfahr both of Boonville, NC, Noel, Jonas, Micah, Kezia, and Peter Bryant all of Lambsburg, VA; he also leaves behind his furry girl, “the icing on the cake”, Tasha; his sisters, Myrtle (Candy) Bryant of Hillsville,VA, and Mary Maines of Cana, VA; brothers, Corbet Bryant and wife, Thelma, and Rev. Donald Bryant and wife Opal all of Lambsburg, VA, Brady Bryant and wife, Shirley of Galax; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Havan Bryant of Lambsburg, VA, Rebecca and Lonnelle Hiatt of Mt. Airy, Claude Marshall of Lambsburg, VA, James Jones of Cana, VA; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Rupert was preceded in death by a sister Elizabeth (Ann) Bryant, an infant sister Bonnie Bryant; a brother Truman Bryant, an infant brother Bobby Bryant, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Otto and Cartie Daniel, sisters-in-law, Doris Marshall, Lois Golding, and April Daniel; brothers-in-law, Jack Maines, Claude Golding, and Neal “Nicky” Daniel.  A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Frazier and Rev. Donald Bryant officiating.  Burial will follow at Fellowship Tabernacle Cemetery in Lambsburg.  There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home, but everyone is welcomed to go by to pay their respect as Rupert will lie-in-state, Tuesday, from 12:00 until 1:30 PM.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3959 Electric Road, Roanoke, VA 24018.  The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Galax Health and Rehab for the love and support given to Rupert during his time there as well as the love and care given by Dr. Osei Bonsu.  Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
