Russell Michael Cruz

Mr. Russell Michael Cruz, age 72 of Floyd, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.  He was born in Washington, DC on February 8, 1952, to the late Rosendo Mileno “Ross” Cruz and Mildred Ball Cruz.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Cruz was preceded in death by a brother, Rudy Cruz; and a sister, Patty Evans.  He was the owner/operator of Russell Cruz Tile Company.   He loved his work with his tile company and enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and coaching ladies softball.   He loved children and was a big kid at heart.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Cruz is survived by the love of his life for 53 years, Kathy Howell Cruz of the home.  In addition to his wife, Mr. Cruz is survived by one sister, Shirley Carroll (Bobby) of Providence, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Marsha Dalton (Eddie) and Mary Perry; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Mr. Cruz will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Light Cemetery on Squirrel Spur Road, Meadows of Dan, Virginia.  Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements, and online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
