Russell Meyer

Dr. Russell Meyer, age 84 of Stuart, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at his home. He was born in Hillman, Michigan on November 9, 1934, to the late John Meyer and Manya Chemlewski Meyer Bowen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Russell Hamilton Meyer, and one brother, Rene Meyer.

Dr. Meyer graduated from Vineland High School, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Indiana, and then completed his medical education at the University Of Indiana College Of Medicine. Russell truly enjoyed being a doctor and serving his patients. He ran a successful practice in Virginia Beach called Eye Specialist for 33 years and was highly thought of by his loyal employees and patients.

Dr. Meyer faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy and had achieved the rank of Captain. He will be remembered for being gentle, humble, and kind to everyone he met. His family will always treasure the memories of a wonderful husband and a loving father.

Dr. Meyer is survived by his wife, Donna Touchstone Meyer, of the home; five children, Manya Marie Meyer of Vineland, NJ, Harrison Bowen Meyer of Virginia Beach, VA, Jesse Daniel Meyer and wife, Jillian Canada Meyer of Virginia Beach, VA, Allen Touchstone of Honolulu, HI, and Aubree Noelle Touchstone of Stuart, VA; three grandchildren, Henry Winston Meyer of Virginia Beach, VA, Ferida Cralle  and husband, Joseph of Fredericksburg, VA, and Lara Moon and husband, Buddy of Fredericksburg, VA; four great-grandchildren; Mickey Moon, Charlotte Moon, Joseph Cralle, Jr. and John-Paul Cralle; and two brothers, William Adolph Meyer of Vineland, NJ and Pete Meyer and wife, Pat of Charlotte, NC.

A celebration of a life well-lived will be held at the home at 7:00 p.m. on November 9, 2019, what would have been his 85th birthday.
