Russell Lee Pike Sr.

Mr. Russell Lee Pike, Sr., age 82, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Sunday July 23, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.  He was born on March 16, 1941, in Surry County to the late Garfield and Nora Noah Pike.  Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Hazel Bowman Pike; daughter, Melissa Pike, son, Russell Pike Jr; grandchildren, Jessica Golding, Christina Golding, Russell Pike III, Julia Pike; eleven Great-grandchildren, sisters, Shirley Thompson, Deborah Owens; brother-in-law, Homer Slate.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Pike was preceded in death by sisters, Joyce Byrd, and Geraldine Combs; brothers, Jonas and Clifford Pike.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy.  Burial will follow in the Slate Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:00 PM until the time for the service at the funeral home.
