Ruth Arlene King Snow, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, at her home with her loving grandson, Michael Davis, by her side. Ruth was born on August 24, 1934 in Stokes County to Alvin and Grace King. Ruth was married for over 55 years to Wade Snow and they had three children, Cathy, Jerry and Lisa. Ruth worked for many years in the textile industry as well as helping her husband farm and raise a garden. She was always industrious in canning and freezing the garden produce. She was well known for the amazing meals that she would prepare for family members and neighbors that assisted with the tobacco harvesting. Her cooking was well known at church meals and church revivals. She was an outstanding seamstress with her talents ranging from baby clothes to furniture upholstery. Ruth was talented in cake decorating and flower arranging. She loved her flower gardens - particularly red roses - and worked in them as long as her health permitted. She was artistically talented in so many areas and whatever she set her mind to do she accomplished. Ruth was a steadfast Christian her entire adult life - quoting scripture even toward the end of her life. She was a founding member of the Church of Christ at Fairview and, at the time of her passing, was the oldest member. Ruth married into the Elmer and Lillie May Snow’s family in 1950. Their children and spouses numbered 19. Ruth was the last surviving member. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Snow, her son, Jerry Snow, her granddaughter, Jennifer Woodring, and her great grandson, Aiden Snider; sisters, Barbara Church and Linda Hamlin. Survivors are her daughters Cathy Snow, Lisa Davis (Sam); grandchildren, Melissa Jessup (Todd) and Michael Davis; great grandchildren - Carla Midkiff (Darton), Gage Jessup, Keira Jessup, and Caleigh Davis; great great grandchildren - Brielle Jones, Everly Woodring, Cohen Monday and Mylah Midkiff; sisters, Betty Martin and Sandra Couch and brother, Larry Hamlin. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 16, from 3-4 at Fairview Church of Christ followed by the funeral service at 4:00. The family would like to thank nurse Donna Keck of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for her loving care of Ruth. There are no words to express to Michael Davis, Ruth’s grandson, the gratitude that we feel for the loving devotion and care that he gave the past 18 months which allowed Ruth to stay in her earthly home until she departed this life for her heavenly home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
