Ruth Naomi Byrd

Mrs. Ruth Naomi Hemrick Byrd, age 99, of Mt. Airy, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at her granddaughter’s home.  Mrs. Byrd was born in Surry County on September 28, 1918, to Robert and Sara Adams Hemrick.  She was retired from Cato Clothing Store, and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.  She is survived by a daughter, Linda Baker; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrell “Butch” and Wanda Byrd; grandchildren, Terry Rhom, Chris and Misty Fain, Randy and Janet Byrd, Darrell Byrd Jr., Bryanna and Marty Johnson, Tracey and Terry Browder; sixteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert Hemrick, Jr. and Vera.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Byrd; three brothers, Raymond, Richard, and Garvey Hemrick; one sister, Rosie Parker.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with brother Ken Young officiating.  Burial will follow in Midkiff Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:00 PM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
