Mrs. Ruth Barnsgrove Cook , 85, widow of Mr. Clyde A. Cook, of Dobson, passed away on Monday May 28, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born in Summers County, West Virginia on June 16, 1921 to the late Herbert Albert and Jettie Ware Barnsgrove. Mrs. Cook was retired from the Legislative Auditors Office of Charleston WV. and was a member of Dobson First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Charleston Chapter No. 88, O.E.S. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Judy Cook of Dobson; niece and nephews, Charles, Steve, Tom and Ellen Perkins all of Tennessee. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Perkins and Mary Barnsgrove. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Dobson City Cemetery with Rev. Michael Macon officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Moody- Davis Funeral Home. A special thanks to the staff of Golden Living Nursing Center of Mt. Airy for the love and care shown to Mrs. Cook during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, the family desires that memorials be made to Dobson First Baptist Church Building Fund 214 South Crutchfield Street, Dobson, NC 27017, or to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Suite 999, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220 or to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Mt. Airy, NC 27030 for the Building Fund of the future Dobson facility in loving memory of Mrs. Cook.
