Mrs. Nettie Ruth Puckett Durham, 95, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday morning, June 25, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Durham was born September 10, 1925, in Patrick County, VA, one of six children born to the late William and Ida Mitchell Puckett. Ruth retired from Adams-Millis Hosiery and was a longtime member of The Salvation Army. Affectionately known as “Granny Ruth,” she became a huge Facebook fan in the last few years, as she loved babies and pictures. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Remona and Joseph Sollenberger of Elizabethtown, PA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Durham, Sr. and Sheila Durham of Mount Airy, Ronnie and Mary Durham of Monroe, and Randall and Bambi Durham of Newport News, VA; seven grandchildren, Richard Durham, Jr., Shane Durham, Robyn Haignere, Michael Durham, Emily Rock, William Durham, and David Sollenberger; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Bowman of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and caregiver, Joseph Durham and his wife, Betty, of Mount Airy; a special great-niece, Tracie Rodriguez; and a special great-nephew, Dale Durham. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Durham was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Durham; three sisters, Ruby Day, Helen Gullatt, and Annie Mae Bolton; and a brother, Bobby Puckett. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 28, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Pat McCormack, Major Terry Edwards, and Major Linda Edwards officiating. A private burial will be held at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
