Mrs. Ruth Hall Embry, age 89, of Ararat, VA passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born in Surry County on March 10, 1924 to the late Floyd Edgar and Ellen Chandler Hall. Mrs. Embry was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She loved bird watching, hunting arrow heads, crocheting, and reading. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Ruby and Paul Vernon of Cana, VA, Brenda Hearl of Ararat, VA; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bennie and Chyrl Embry of Mabank, TX, Billy and Mary Sue Embry of Cana, VA, David and Barbara Embry of Mt. Airy, NC; grandchildren, Clint and Karen Hall, Sherrie and David Pruitt, Jennifer and Randy McBride, Joey and Amanda Hearl, Matthew and Heather Embry, Angie Embry, William and Misty Embry, Ramsey and Tanya Embry, Jeanna and Jim Jenkins; great grandchildren, Kate and Greg Cole, Timothy and Emily Pruitt, Ashley McBride, Jordan, Jamie, and Dani Jo Hearl, Asher Embry, Hunter and Chloe Crane, Abby and Ali Ruth Embry, Autumn, and Remington Embry, Geona, Ananiah, Elyjah and Owen Jenkins, Thomas Allen Embry; step grandchildren, Ruddy and Molly Crane, Bart and Dusty Vernon, Jon and Suzanne Vernon, Andy and Melissa Vernon; great great grandson, Colton Cole, step great great grandchildren, Bradley and Adrianna Slone, Corey Akers; sister and brother-in-law, Rachel and Moorefield Tesh of Mt. Airy; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Embry was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Thomas Embry; a grandson, Tommy Embry; two sisters, Essie Hall and Bessie Easter; three brothers, Jesse, Elmo, and Bobby Hall; a son-in-law, Clinton Hall. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Vass and Rev. Josh Holder officiating. Burial will follow in Willis Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Dobson, NC 27017.
