Ruth Beatrice McCraw Hawks

Mrs. Ruth Beatrice McCraw Hawks, 86, of Kernersville, formerly of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Hawks was born October 3, 1922, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Billie Wyatt and Katie Thomas McCraw. She retired from Renfro Corporation and was of the Baptist faith. She devoted her life to caring for her family. She is survived by two sons, Bruce W. Hawks of Kernersville and Garry W. Hawks of Huntersville; a sister, Geneva Slate of King; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Betsy McCraw of Cana, VA. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Hawks; and two brothers, Reed McCraw and Green McCraw. The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 16, 2008, at 1:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. The service will be conducted by Chaplain Randy Hillman, and burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
