Ruth Helen Haymore

Ruth Helen Thompson Haymore, age 88, peacefully went to heaven from her home, surrounded by family on September 29, 2021. She was born May 16, 1933, in the Flat Rock area of Surry County, North Carolina to Roby and Margie (Watson) Thompson. A graduate of Flat Rock High School and the North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, she worked for the new Northern Hospital of Surry County as the Night Charge Nurse for several years. Ruth met Charles Haymore at Flat Rock School in the second grade. They began dating in high school, Love blossomed, and they married on October 10, 1954. She and Charles moved their growing family to Tucson, Arizona in 1959. A faithful follower of Jesus Christ, Ruth gave of herself fully as a wife and mother, while seeking to love her Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind, and to love her neighbor as herself. She and Charles were active members of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Tucson. They were also avid University of Arizona Wildcats fans, traveling across the country for away games. Ruth and Charles returned to Mount Airy in 1990. They were long-time members of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Ruth has been a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church for the last several years. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Haymore, brothers Chec, Robert, and Tom Thompson, and beloved grandson, Joshua Fredeen. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Wade (Nancy) Thompson of Mt. Airy, and her children, Tamra (Larry) Fredeen of Tucson, AZ; Dawn (Jack) Marslender of Buckeye, AZ; Monda (Drew) Thompson of Fredericksburg, TX; Joy Livingston of Clemmons, NC; Charles “Chuck” (Debbie) Haymore, Jr. of Clemmons, NC; and Angie (TJ) Lievsay of Mount Airy, NC; 25 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A celebration of Ruth Haymore’s life will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy, followed by a private committal ceremony for the immediate family.
