Ruth Emma Smith

Miss Ruth Emma Smith, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Central Care. Miss Smith was born October 11, 1927, in Stokes County, to the late Charles Leo and Rachel Cathryn Martin Smith. Ruth was a member of Westfield Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister, Elaine Smith Bowman of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl W. and Nita Smith of Advance; two nephews and their spouses, Jim and Linda Bowman of Winston-Salem and Terry and Jennifer Bowman of Clover, SC; and three great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 2:00 PM at Westfield Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Joel Stephens. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Elaine Smith Bowman, 179 Marion Drive, Mount Airy. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care and the staff of Central Care for the love, care, and kindness shown to Ruth during her illness.
