Ruth Mae Wilhite

Mrs. Ruth Mae Tilley Wilhite, 91, of Mt. Airy passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy.  She was born in Surry County on January 3, 1929 to the late Ellis and Mallie Mathis Tilley.  Mrs. Wilhite retired from Spencer’s, and was a loving homemaker who will be dearly missed. She lived a full, happy life always surrounded by her adoring family She was known to many as Granny Ruth.  She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Kathy Wilhite, Linda and Larry “Luke” Easter; six grandchildren, Dawn Easter, Johnny Easter, Derrick Johnson, Taylor McMillian, Chris Slate and LeeAnn Meadows, eleven great grandchildren, Olivia, Hagen, Mac, Madison, Sophie, Jacob, Marlie, Anna Rose, Sawyer, Lanney and Dax;  sisters and brother-in-law, Lucy and Granville Sydnor, Rachel Tilley; and  many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wilhite was preceded in death by her husband, George Wilhite; a daughter, Debbie Wilhite Yarbrough, sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Delon Davis, Edith and Shelby Hill.  A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2020, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt.
